Estes Auctions held a radio auction at the Expo Auction Center in Burbank, Ohio, on Saturday, January 22, 2005. The sale included items from several collections. Interesting offerings came from a collector from the West Virginia/Virginia border. Many of these were German and Japanese World War II military pieces, which were incomplete or had accessories missing. Still, some of the items received strong bids.
The sale also had a large offering of tubes which brought good prices. Books and magazines were plentiful, as were consoles and table radios. A Scott All Wave 23 brought the highest bid -- $1,100. A Zenith 12S262 sold at $650 while a Stellar baseball radio brought $750. The sale total was $53,700. Though the gross was not large, the sale offered lots of $50-100 range items, including many parts and part sets.
We had a total of 136 bidders, and everyone had a good time! The listing below is a selection from the hundreds of items offered at this auction.
e=excellent, vg=very good, g=good, f=fair, p=poor, BB=brass-based, TT=tipped tube, PB=push buttons, PS=power supply. All prices have been rounded down to the dollar. Some low cost items and items in poor condition or with nonspecific descriptions have been omitted. See print version for complete auction listing.
